James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
It's amazing how much God can speak to you in just a few words that were written and inspired decades ago.
I've been struggling to conjure up the strength to speak to my mountains and make them move as of late. I just felt like there was a missing ingredient that was keeping my labor unfruitful. I stumbled upon that missing ingredient in James Chapter 1.
My failings weren't in my efforts or my direction, or even my motivation for that matter. I realized that I was falling short in the joy department. And as it turns out not just joy, but pure joy! I was all up for the trials and finding a way to make a "David and Goliath" moment out of them. But, I discovered through my study of James that the victory doesn't come with the defeat of your trials, rather, victory is in experiencing pure joy in the midst of them, actually because of them. James even goes to the point of making it a definitive statement. This decision to count your trials as a joyous occasion is what gives way to wisdom and maturity by way of perseverance.
My course is set to follow the path that God has laid before me, only now I can resist complaining, and sulking along the way, knowing that with each step I can experience pure joy! What more could you really ask for?

No doubt I've been MIA as of late. My blog has fallen into deep neglect. It appears that either I have been to busy updating my life 140 characters at a time, or I just haven't had anything to report. (It's not the ladder.)
My mid-years resolution is to use this as a platform to journal what God is doing in my life. That resolution engages in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1......
So as they usually do on Wednesday, mom and Brantley grabbed Jack and took off to our friendly neighborhood pizza joint. They had been there for a few minutes chomping down on some pizza when Jack started freaking out. He kept hiding behind Brantley and peeking out towards the booth across the way where a guy with an eye patch sat with his family. Brantley asked Jack what it was that had freaked him out, a question that he would later regret asking. Jack pointed across the aisle at the man with the eye patch and blurted out, "Papa! It's a pirate o'er there! He scare me!"
Oh the things that kids will say. I'm just glad he was with mom and Brantley and not Amber and I when he chose to cast judgment on the visionally challenged.

Much love to my boys,

Our boys are finally here! Owen and Isaac were born Tuesday morning (9/9/08) around 10:30am! Isaac came first weighing in at 5lbs 7oz, followed 12 minutes later by Owen who weighed in at 6lbs 1oz. They are both inexplicably healthy and absolutely perfect little boys.... miraculous considering their early arrival! Later today we will take them home and begin our lives as a new family of 5!
Proud Papa,
Clint
I'm a little late in posting about Jack's birthday but life has been a bit overwhelming for the last few weeks to say the least. It's tough to play the roles of both parents and a nurse at the same time, but that is the role that I have assumed during the final stage of our pregnancy while Amber remains on bed rest.
Anyway, back to Jack and his crowning achievement of turning 2 years old. Jack is currently obsessed with this Nickelodeon show called "The Wonderpets." It's actually a really cute show, honestly I find myself singing along with most of the songs, but that's probably due to the fact that those songs are the only songs playing in my house around the clock! So since Jack is all about the Wonderpets right now, we decided to throw a Wonderpets birthday party for him. We went all out too! I made Jack a wonderpets cape, we had an extremely talented friend of ours make us a wonderpets cake, and then of course Jack recieved everything wonderpets that ToysRus could potentially offer us! It was an awesome party, and Jack had an absolute blast! We are so proud of him. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing family!
Mucho amo,
Clint
(of course the first song that he said he was playing was "Crazy Beautiful" or as he calls it, "whoa whoa")
By the way, still no babies! Am is still on bed rest and having contractions everyday. We are officially taking bets as to how long she is going to hold out!
Mucho amo,
Clint
